A Letter from the Wing on Wo Family

Today, Wing on Wo's namesake and mantra "forever peace" stands the test of time. 5 years ago our life rhythm came to a fork in the road. Our family took the turn into the 21st century. The call to us for community building was strong, led by our grandpa, 公 Gong.

Here we are at our 5th anniversary of Mei's regeneration of Wing on Wo and the founding of The W.O.W. Project.

In 2016, our welcome to the community was an invitation out of the long time comfort zone. W.O.W. invited oral history sharing, with all of its warts and missteps in living and raising families. To face and say openly the struggles and hardships in our generational experiences was brave for all of us. 

What was a groundswell, has become a movement, a wave with each of us locking arms in solidarity for more, bigger, and better in each of ours and larger community. The W.O.W. family is deeply grateful to everyone opening their minds and hearts to building community fueled by creative spirit and cultural identity. The call to art and activism was met with enthusiasm and inspiration. We have been catalyst for each other in a larger and larger space, shouting inclusivity, commonality and equity. Thank you for coming out and showing up — we love you!
